We pursue distinguished intellectuals to be featured guests on Radio Free Kansas, Dr. Chalmers Johnson was a particularly good pursuit. He first canceled our email blasts when we put him on our general distribution list in an attempt to pique his curiosity. We replied with an invitation to appear as a special guest, he returned conditioning the appearance with a gentle request for operatic arias to be played when he appeared. What unfolded was a friendly relationship that lasted over the years since. Dr. Johnson died Nov. 20, 2010 at the age of 79, at San Diego, Ca. The RFK shows featured here appeared April 16, 2008 and September 26, 2009; a conversation on the collapse of the American empire as studied in his trilogy, and an assessment of the American financial fraud as it was happening then, respectively. His three most recent books, a trilogy rest dog eared with marginalia on our book shelf. He became a hero of both the "paleo-conservatives" and the "isolationist left" and was vilified and scorned by the political bastardy of the same wings. Both shows have news programming and commentary from that time, but let the opera be the listeners signal. We remained friends by telephone over the years since a valued teacher who mentored what is Radio Free Kansas. Dr. Johnson will be missed by all opposed to the American Empire who work for a democracy to still exist after it's fall.
